Department: Utility Services Department Organizational Unit: Barefoot Bay Water And Wastewater
Description: $14.79 - $16.27 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Barefoot Bay. Work schedule which includes standby and overtime as required. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater utility systems.
Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Three (3) years of experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of components of a water/wastewater utility, with at least one year of experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of water distribution lines and/or water treatment plant equipment or one year of Utility Mechanic I experience. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, a valid Florida Commercial Driver's license, Class B or higher, and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to pass an asbestos physical for respiratory personal protective equipment to start and every two years thereafter. Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing respiratory personal protective equipment. Valid and active FDEP Water Distribution System Operator’s Level III or higher license required. Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, both Backflow Tester certification and Backflow Repair certification. Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, Certification in Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). Job requires planned and unplanned overtime, and standby and call-out duties on a rotational basis. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster which may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
